ANSWER:-

The Portuguese explorer who discovered the sea route to India was Vasco-de-Gama this marked the beginning of the European era as through this way many European came to India for trade and export.

ANSWER:-

European trading companies set-up trade centres in coastal areas so that they can export goods from India at cheaper rates and sell them in their country at high price. 
The coast sea routes also made the trade easier and convenient. The goods that were traded through sea included handloom, Salt peter, spices etc.

Explain the  policy of "Divide and Rule" adopted by the British. What was it's impact on the Indian Princes? 

ANSWER:-

The divide and rule policy was adopted by Britishers during their rule over India. 

Britishers when found it difficult to get their way inside the India land they decided to play the dirty game of divide and rule. 

Impact on Indian Princes.-

1.The prince started hating the other communities

2.They lost unity. 

3.They spread more hatred for other communities

4.They could not win against the British.

Describe the causes and the consequences of First Carnatic war. 


ANSWER:-

The main cause  for the first carnatic war was the war of succession in Austrian. In India, it was fought between nation Britain and France for imperialist interests. 

Consequences of First Carnatic War -

1.The French military power attacked fort St. George in Madras under the leadership of General Dupleix. 

2.The French supported Chand Sahib, the son in law of Nizam of Hyderabad as the new Nawab and the English were in favour of Muhammad Ali who was the son of Nawab of Carnatic. 

3.A war broken out between the two countries in which the French were defeated.

How did the assumption of Dewani benefit the East India Company. 

ANSWER:-


Dewani beneficial for the British power in Bengal. The East India Company gained the rule and Dewani the right to collect the revenue from Bengal, which includes Bihar and Orissa also at that time.

QUESTION 1.


How did East India Company become an imperial power in India? Explain. 


ANSWER:-


The East India company became an imperial power to protect it trading internets from other European traders. It began as a trading Company, took over political control and became the ruler of entire India. 

The aim of the company was to gain monopoly of the entire trade in the East. The company came into conflict with other foreign traders and hence built up it own military and administrative department. It became such a strong force that it took over the governance of Bengal, Madras land Bombay. 

Gradually the trading Company transformed into an auxiliary government and military power that ended only in 1858.

What is meant by Dual Government? How did it lead to public suffering? 


ANSWER:-


Dual Government began in Bengal when the British got the right to collect Diwani. 

In this system the Nawab looked after the administration and company controlled the army, the Judiciary and the revenue collection of Bengal. 

In this arrangement gave immense power to the British without any responsibility. 

Suffering of the general public started thousands of the people died in the Bengal famine in 1770 but the company didn't help the victims and the Nawab didn't have the resources.

ANSWER:-

The Battle of Buxar 1764 was very important in the history of India. 
The Battle of Buxar was a turning point of India because the following ways-

1.The East India Company's victory in this battle established British colonial rule in Bengal presidency and subsequent expansion  of British control all over India. 

2.The Battle of Buxar was beneficial for the British power in Bengal. 

3.The East India Company gained the rule and Diwani the right to collect the revenue from Bengal, which includes Bihar and Orissa also at that time.

What was the importance of Battle of Plassey? 


ANSWER:-


Battle of Plassey 1757 was fought between the East India Company under Robert Clive and the army of Siraj-ud-Daulah at Plassey (between Calcutta and Murshidabad) 

Mir Jafar, who wanted to become the Nawab, bribed Indian soldiers to throw a way their weapons. 

Clive won the battle of Plassey. 

1.The British consolidated their position in Bengal by making Mir jafar as the Nawab of Bengal. 

2.Mir Jafar gifted large sum of money and 24 Parganas of Bengal to the British.
