ANSWER

The vegetation belts of the world can broadly be divided into various groups on the basis of their location and climatic conditions. These are Tropical Hardwood forests, Grass lands, Deserts and Temperature softwood forests.

Name some common plants found in cold and hot desert regions of the world.

ANSWER

Cactus, Shrubs , and bushes are the common vegetations of hot desert.

ANSWER

The major components of Ecosystem are-

Plants Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, human beings and atmosphere.

ANSWER

Equatorial forests are known as evergreen forests because these forests remain green through out the year. The trees are very tall. Main trees found in these areas are ebony, rubber, mahogany, rosewood, etc.

What role do plants play in ecological balance?

ANSWER

Plants play an important role in ecological balance. They use Co2 from atmosphere and release O2 during food making process. They provide food for herbivorous animals. They also provide shelter for a great variety of wildlife.

Distinguish between tropical and temperate grasslands.

ANSWER

Tropical Grassland

1. They are located between the equatorial forests and hot deserts in both the hemispheres.

2.The grasses of these regions are very rough, thick and tall.

3.These grasslands receive about 100 cm raifall.

4.Campos in Brazil are typical example of these forests.

Temperate Grassland

.1.They are located in the temperate zone and in the interior parts of the continents.

2.The grasses of these regions are short and soft.

3.These grasslands receive about 25 to 75 cm rainfall.

4. They are known by different names in different areas, for example- Prairies, Pampas, Downs, Veld.

Hot Deserts

1.These are mostly located on the western margins of the continents where temperature remain very high through out the year.

2.Some important hot desert of the world are the Sahara desert, the Thar desert, the Attacama.

Cold Deserts

1.The cold deserts are mostly found around the polar regions where temperature remains below freezing point for the major part of the year.

2.The common vegetation is comprised of mosses, lichens, etc.

3.The main areas are northern part of Siberia and northern part of Canada.

ANSWER

Ecological imbalance creates a numbers of problems like global warming, melting of glaciers, less amount of rainfall, habitat problem of wildlife etc.

The steps we should take to solve them as follows-

1.We should plant more and more trees.

2.We should plant use plant kingdom and other natural resources judiciously.

3.We should stop hunting of animals.

4.We should use CNG.

5.Water waste from factories must be treated in water treatment plant.
